Root Canal Therapy
Root canal treatment is a procedure that treats the nerve of the tooth, giving the tooth a second chance. When a tooth becomes infected due to decay, disease or injury, the nerve tissues dies and causes discomfort.
If left untreated, the tooth may become more infected, broken and may cause an abscess which can lead to the loss of the tooth.
The procedure involves removing the pulp (nerve), cleaning and widening canals, sealing the canal to protect remaining tooth and a filling material used to restore or if limited tooth structure crown will be used. This process usually takes 2-3 visits to complete, which will be advised accordingly by the dentist.
